Progressive Dogs is run by Tom Bysouth BSc an experienced and degree qualified dog trainer and behaviourist. Tom studied a degree in canine behaviour and training at Bishop Burton College (an associate of the University Of Hull).

Whilst still at university Tom worked for national assistance dog charity Hearing Dogs For Deaf People in Buckinghamshire, a world leader in training assistance dogs. Here Tom worked as a puppy training instructor working with a large number of puppies, preparing them for their life changing work as Hearing Dogs.

After leaving university in 2016 Tom began Progressive Dogs. As well as working with private clients, Tom is also involved in working with a number of rescue organisations in the UK as well as mainland Europe. Both with dogs waiting for their forever homes and helping dogs and their new families
Tom is also one of the consulting behaviourists for the Deaf Dog Network and is involved in advising rescues and owners of deaf dogs, lecturing at talks and seminars as well as advising and supporting members through the Facebook group.

Gundogs have always been part of Tom’s life and this has led to training them to work. Being a reward based, force free trainer Tom is passionate about the movement towards more reward based training methods in gundog training and we hope to offer classes and workshops on this in the future.

Progressive Dogs offer a variety of one to one training options as well as behavioural consultations. All our services are available online worldwide although in person training sessions are only available in the south east of England. We only use positive reinforcement, science-based training methods which are both effective and ethical.
